Does it really go in the water?

YES! It really does go on the water. Check out our VIDEO page to see what to expect during ‘splashdown’.

Do we get wet?

Only if it is raining. We have a free-seating policy at Viking Splash Tours which is only affected in the event of rainy weather. The last 8 seats on the vehicle do not have roof cover which means if it is raining.. well, you are going to get rained on! When we sell the last 8 seats of each tour we will let you know that your seats will not have roof cover. Be advised that the Dukw is open-sided and we would ask all our passengers dress for the unpredicability of Irish weather.

Should we wear any special clothing for the tour?

There is no need to wear anything special for our tour, though we do advise all customers to please dress for the weather. Do not bring your own life jacket as we must insist that you wear one of ours.

Is the tour safe?

Yes. Our vehicles are old and heavy but they were designed for more demanding and strenuous trials than what we put them through at Viking Splash Tours! (check out DUKW HISTORY). They are regularly serviced and we have a full complement of garage staff that keep the vehicles up to top performance standards. All of our vehicles are equipped with seatbelts.

Where can I get on the tour?

Our regular departure point is St. Stephen’s Green North, just opposite the junction of Dawson Street (see MAP here). We have a group’s departure point on Bull Alley Street next to St Patrick’s Cathedral also. Regular tours do not run from Bull Alley Street. Only pre-booked group bookings can depart from this location.

What happens if I am late for my tour?

When booking you will be advised that tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable and to be at the departure point at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time. Should you find yourself running late and do not think you will make the tour in time, or if anyone in your group has cancelled, please let us know as soon as possible. We will release the seats and attempt to sell them on. If, however, we are unable to sell on the seats, you will be charged the full price of your tickets with no refund. Please see our T&Cs.

Are there toilets on board/at the departure points?

No – unfortunately we cannot provide toilet facilities at our departure point nor on our vehicles.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Can I bring a buggy/pram?

Yes – as long as the buggy or pram is collapsible, it can be folded up and put behind the back seats on board.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Can I eat/drink/smoke on board?

No. No. And no. We do not allow eating, drinking or smoking on board for a variety of health and safety reasons. Read more about our Health & Safety policy HERE.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

How long is the tour?

One hour and fifteen minutes is what we aim for – this will vary depending on city traffic.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

How long is the water section of the tour?

We spend approximately 15-20 minutes in the Grand Canal Docks.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Can I get off the tour and get back on?

No. The Viking Splash Tours is 75 minutes in duration with no stops on the route.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Can I be dropped off at?

Unless you have booked with a group and organised an alternative drop-off point, your tour will start and finish at St. Stephen’s Green North. Tickets are non-transferable.

Are tours wheelchair accessible?

We do carry wheelchair users on the Viking Splash Tour, but these passengers must be seated on a bus seat and be mobile enough to be assisted up the six steps at the rear of the vehicle by a member of your group (see photograph HERE). The wheelchair must be collapsible and can be stored at the rear of the vehicle behind the back seats.

How often do the tours run?

Approximately every half an hour from St. Stephen’s Green during high season. Please call us on +353 1 707 6000 to check availability or to book your place on board.

How can a vehicle work on land and water?

Come on board and find out! The vehicles we use are called “Dukws”. They were built during World War II as amphibious trucks to carry soldiers and equipment to aid the war effort. To read more about the history of the Dukw, please click HERE.

Is a group discount offered?

Yes! Group discounts are available with the exception of July and August when we are not in a position to discount our rates. Call us for our group options – +353 1 707 6000 or check out our Group Tours HERE.

Is there an age restriction on the tour?

For safety reasons children under 3 must alight from the vehicle with an adult for the duration of the water section of the tour only. If you wish to bring a child aged 2 and under on our tour, please contact our office before booking your seats.
